Happy with product but did think I had bought the complete 'video reality' package as stated as a birthday gift. I was very disappointed that the recipient could not use straight away as the package did not contain a camera. They then had to wait whilst this was ordered. I think this should be clearly stated that other items are needed to avoid disappointment.
Should have come with camera according to the description. Phoned up Amazon but just offered a refund not great when your son has already opened the box and placed on his head. Really disappointed with Amazon customer service. It's an impressive achievement and this is a pretty cheap way to get into VR. There's a little feeling of tunnel vision and there's a slight grain to everything but these are limitations of current VR so are more an FYI than a direct criticism.
Some games are genuinely impressive and the headset is comfortable to wear for fairly long periods. Others suffer from a bad lack of detail in visuals and feel clumsy to control. But, I soon found myself wanting to take it off and play more traditional games. However immersive the visuals are, the gaming itself felt decidedly less deep than a lot of non-VR games. Perhaps this is more about immersive experiences than gaming. I do look forward to the next generation of this technology when everything's a little less blurry and it feels less like you're wearing goggles.
Also when developers have a bit more experience with the kit as a gaming platform. This is an interesting experience and quite delightful at times, but really isn't an essential purchase for me. Considering the investment in money and the room it takes up, I sold this on within a year, after it gathered dust for about half that time.
It was a fun dabble in VR but not a lot more for me so I find it tough to recommend it wholeheartedly, although I'm sure a lot of people will have fun with it. Okay so if you're thinking of buying a VR, and come here to look for reviews, primarily you are going to find two types: Those from tech savvy people who complain that the graphics aren't great and that there a number of technical faults, but despite this for the money it is a great piece of kit.
And then there are those who are completely in awe, and pretty much say that the whole thing cannot be described and must be experienced first hand to understand what all the fuss is about. Prior to buying my own headset I found both types of reviews very unhelpful. You see when VR headsets were first announced, I assumed it would be like simply playing a first person game up closer than usual with the ability to turn your head and look around.
What I did not expect was to be transported into a 3D environment with surroundings that looked like you could actually touch them and amazing 3D sound. It is seriously like being inside a movie with the action happening around you. It is true that the graphics might not be as good as those you're used to playing from the TV, but if you are still able to get as immersed as I did, you will not care. As for getting nauseous, I imagine that is going to be different for everyone.
The worst thing can sometimes be moving forward whilst your feet remain stationary outside of the game. I actually found walking on the spot to simulate movement, actually helps a lot. Also if there is ever a chance to turn around using the control stick, do not do it, instead actually turn your whole body. The more real physical movements you can synchronise with the game, the less nauseous you will become. Also it is advisable to only play for mins at a time. Strangely enough, I feel that time does feel longer when you're in there.
What an amazing bit of kit, definitely a must buy. You really feel like your in the game and it will blow your mind. I only bought this when I heard Skyrim is to be released in VR. But Let me answer some of the questions I could not find, before my purchase The resolution, reminds me of the old VCR video maybe a little better So don't expect those lovely HD pictures you see depicting the games. The VR does fit over glasses very easily, but if you wear any varifocal type ,reading ingame is fuzzy you will need to adjust VR during play.
